“Faith”, as it is appropriately named, is the perfect little princess kolor and is named in honor of Miss Jessica Faith Castro.

Jessica Faith Castro was born on December 17, 2013. Shortly after her first birthday, Jessica began to exhibit concerning health issues that were shared with her doctor. A series of visits led the family to Loma Linda Children’s Hospital and in January 2015, it was discovered that Jessica had an aggressive brain tumor that needed immediate surgical removal. Lab results revealed she had a very rare, fast growing tumor called Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT). This diagnosis gave Jessica only a 10% chance of surviving.

After undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, multiple stem cell transplants and radiation treatments, the tumor returned two more times and she underwent numerous procedures and two additional surgeries to have it removed. However, in March 2016, just weeks after the third surgery, follow-up MRI’s determined that the tumor was back and there were no other curative treatments available to improve Jessica’s quality of life.

Her parents, Brittany and Henry, made the brave decision to start hospice for Jessica in May 2016 to help create the most comfortable life as possible for her. Jessica was at home with her parents and brothers; she had good days and bad days. She was on substantial medication for her pain, but many days things were so unbearable that she was unable to even sleep. A few weeks before she passed her parents finally got her comfortable and on the right amount of pain meds. Jessica then started to sleep a lot more and slowly slipped away from the tumor continuing to grow and push against her brainstem.

Sadly, on August 9th, 2016 just three months after being put on hospice Jessica Faith Castro passed away peacefully laying closely next to her mother and father.
